THE PRINT SHIRT - KARASU

A dense, layered all-over print in earth tones on a black base — abstract forms that don't resolve into a single image. Circles, crystalline shapes, webs, outlines of things you almost recognise: hands, perhaps, or stones, or the cross-sections of something organic. You find different things each time you look. The print references karasu — the crow of Japanese folklore, an animal associated with knowledge, with seeing more than it reveals. The shirt itself works the same way. The fabrication is a lightweight woven with excellent natural drape — the print sits into the fabric rather than sitting on top of it. The Tokyo Tori name is embroidered at the back in red thread. This is the kind of shirt you wear to be seen without explaining yourself.
